Martine grew up in a small French village of Epernay and loved to lead her classmates in performing impromptu song and
dance routines and never missed the opportunity to perform with them.
Moving to America as a teenager, she was teased for her accent, as kids often do. Determined to “speak American” like the
others her love for singing helped to lose her French accent; listening to
the music of Ella Fitzgerald and Barbra Streisand, the latter becoming inspiration for her eventual music style.
Into adult-hood, she sang only to herself and then to her young son Matthew, not
confident to do otherwise with anyone else. Her
opportunity to sing publicly came through her Dad's restaurant, Roma: he needed help to
improve business and that’s where it all started for Martine.
After a long engagement there as a vocalist and popular DJ, it propelled her to a
new career as a confident entertainer, one she enjoys to this day.
Since then, Martine has performed in clubs and events along the east
coast; numerous times at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, MD, The
Chesapeake Center for The Arts and in resorts and private venues in Charlestown
WV, The Cosmopolitan Club, Philadelphia PA, country clubs at the
New Jersey Shore, Snowshoe Music and Chatauqua Institute, NY, Naples FL for
private parties sponsored by J Crew and personally satisfying, her native
France.
People who know music compliment her singing style and repertoire as it reminds them of the
renowned women and men of song whose voices stirred the hearts of many
generations: Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion, Ella Fitzgerald, Linda Ronstadt,
Billie Holiday and even Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole.
Martine sings from her heart
songs that rekindle special feelings of
excitement, appreciation and love…and, if you listen ever so carefully, you’ll sense the little talented girl from Epernay is still here with us today.
